TXDOT SH 46 FROM I-35 TO I-10 EXPANSION PROJECT

The Texas Department of Transportation San Antonio District is proposing to improve SH 46 from I-35 to I-10 and I-35 from South Walnut Avenue to FM 306 in Comal and Guadalupe counties, Texas. TxDOT has been working collaboratively with Comal County, the City of New Braunfels, Guadalupe County and the City of Seguin to help identify corridor issues and concerns.

Improvements along SH 46 are needed to meet current and future traffic volumes and regional population growth. The purpose of the project is to reduce congestion, improve mobility and increase safety along SH 46. TxDOT is proposing to expand SH 46 with operational and corridor improvements including additional lanes, overpasses and intersection improvements. The proposed expansion also includes limited ramp reconstruction along I-35.

Proposed SH 46 from I-35 to the Comal/Guadalupe County line within Comal County

  • Constructing new SH 46 mainlanes elevated over the existing at-grade SH 46 roadway and providing overpasses at Elliot Knox Boulevard (Business 35), I-35, FM 1101 (Freiheit Road) and Alves Lane.

  • Constructing two direct connecting flyover ramps between SH 46 and I-35.

Proposed SH 46 from the Comal/Guadalupe County line to I-10 within Guadalupe County

  • Expanding SH 46 to a four-lane controlled access highway with two-lane, one-way frontage roads.

  • Constructing overpasses at:

    • Mary Boulevard/Saengerhalle Road

    • Weltner Road

    • Pfeiffer Lane/Canal Lane

    • Cordova Road/Three Oaks Road

    • Future Pecan Parkway

MATTERHORN EXPRESS PIPELINE

The developer group of WhiteWater Midstream LLC, EnLink Midstream, LLC, Devon Energy Corp. and MPLX LP announced that it had made the final investment decision on its proposed 490-mile-long, 42-inch diameter natural gas pipeline is expected to be in service by the end of 2024.  Matterhorn Pipeline, LLC will transport 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from Waha, Texas, to Katy, Texas.

CPS ENERGY SCENIC LOOP SUBSTATION & ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has approved CPS Energy’s Scenic Loop Substation and Electric Transmission Line Project.

This project involves the proposed construction of a new substation, a new transmission line, and associated distribution lines. This substation will improve reliability and provide additional electrical capacity to homes and businesses in the area.

Project Details Include:

  • County: Bexar

  • Power Line Voltage: 138-kV Line

  • Easement Requirements: 100 ft. Easement

TXDOT US HIGWAY 77 SINTON IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN SAN PATRICIO COUNTY, TEXAS

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed improvements to US 77 from Business US Highway 77 South to Business US Highway 77 North in San Patricio County, Texas.

The proposed improvements would:

  • Upgrade US 77 to interstate standards from BU 77 south to BU 77 north for approximately 5.8 miles

  • Construct continuous main lanes and frontage roads would be constructed from south of FM 1945 to BU 77 north

  • Provide for 12-foot main lanes (two in each direction) with 4-foot inside and 10-foot outside shoulders

  • Replace the at-grade intersections with grade separations

  • Construct a frontage road and overpasses

  • Reconstruct the existing ramps

  • Reconstruct the at-grade intersection of US 77 and FM 1196 as grade separated

  • Proposed frontage roads would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes with 8-foot outside and 4-foot inside shoulders

  • feature curb and gutter

  • include four bridges at Chiltipin Creek (two over the main lanes and two over the frontage roads)

The proposed ROW would vary from 230 to 930 feet

Approximately 96.7 acres of additional ROW would be acquired on the west side of the existing roadway.

TXDOT US HIGHWAY 79 WIDENING PROJECT, FROM I-35 TO EAST OF FM 1460 IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed US 79 Widening project, from I-35 to East of FM 1460 in Williamson County, Texas.

The proposed improvements would:

  • Add a third 12-foot travel lane in each direction of US 79

  • Install a raised median for safety

  • Include overpasses at US 79/Mays Street and US 79/FM 1460

  • Alter the US 79/I-35 Intersection

  • Modify driveways and access points to improve safety and traffic flow

  • Install 10-foot shared-use paths on both sides of US 79 to improve pedestrian and bicycle use

The project would require approximately 10 acres of new right-of-way.

TXDOT US HIGHWAY 79 WIDENING PROJECT WILLIAMSON COUNTY

WILLIAMSON COUNTY FM 3349 at US 79 ROAD EXPANSION PROJECT

The project is part of Williamson County’s Long-Range Transportation Plan and is being funded through a combination of the Williamson County voter-approved 2019 Road Bonds and the TXDOT Austin District. 

The proposed project would include:

  • Widening the existing undivided two‐lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four‐lane divided roadway,

  • Constructing an elevated crossing over US 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad, and

  • Constructing a local access road “jug handle” to provide connectivity between US 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.

TXDOT US 281 BLANCO COUNTY PROJECT

TxDOT is developing preliminary plans to improve 19 miles of US 281 from US 290 to the Comal County line in Blanco County, Texas, including the US 281/US 290 interchange. The preliminary plans would expand the roadway to a four-lane divided highway similar to the adjacent section of US 281 to the south.

The proposed improvements would:

  • Widen the roadway to create a four-lane divided roadway within a typical right of way of 450 ft, including two lanes in each direction and shoulders.

  • Separate travel lanes by adding a grassy median to preserve flexibility in the corridor to accommodate transportation improvements in the future.

  • Add median crossovers with acceleration and deceleration lanes at regular intervals.

  • Add right-turn lanes at various intersections.

  • Design roadway transitions North and South of the city of Blanco to tie into existing four-lane sections.

  • Upgrade the US 281/US 290 interchange.

TXDOT US 281 BLANCO RELIEF ROUTE FEASIBILITY STUDY

At the request of the city of Blanco and Blanco County, TxDOT is initiating the US 281 Blanco Relief Route Feasibility Study to evaluate ways to enhance safety and improve mobility along US 281 in the city of Blanco. This study will explore and evaluate a relief route around the city of Blanco to alleviate congestion within the city and its downtown square district.

Proposed Improvements:

  • Create a four-lane divided alternative route

  • Enhance safety and mobility along US 281 as well as in and around the city of Blanco

  • Preserve the downtown character in the city of Blanco while providing an alternative route for through traffic

TXDOT I-14 CENTRAL TEXAS CORRIDOR STUDY (BELL TO WALKER COUNTY)

The TxDOT Bryan District is studying the future I-14 Central Texas Corridor, which generally follows US 190 eastward from Rogers in Bell County to Huntsville in Walker County.

This Study will determine the feasibility of a corridor and route for a roadway facility that meets interstate standards.

TXDOT US 281 SOUTH COMAL PROJECT IN COMAL AND BEXAR COUNTY

This proposed project would expand US 281 from a four-lane divided highway to a four-lane freeway with frontage roads in each direction, for a distance of approximately 6.3 miles.

  • The proposed US 281 would consist of two main lanes with inside and outside shoulders in each direction, separated by a varied-width median.

  • Two to three frontage road lanes would be constructed in each direction and would be separated from the main lanes by a buffer space.

  • In addition, six-foot sidewalks would be constructed on both sides of the roadway.

  • The project would also consist of construction of entrance and exit ramps and auxiliary lanes, including left/right turn lanes and turnaround lanes.

  • Intersection, drainage, and pedestrian improvements would also be constructed.

  • The FM 1863/Bulverde Road overpass would be improved by adding frontage roads and approach/departing lanes.

  • The SH 46 overpass would be replaced with a wider bridge to accommodate auxiliary lanes and future expansion.

  • A new overpass would be constructed at Mustang Vista, where Mustang Vista would be extended on the west side of US 281 to tie into Short Hill and Casey Road.

  • The proposed project would require the acquisition of approximately 80 to 140 feet of right of way along US 281, resulting in a proposed ROW width that is primarily 400 feet.

TXDOT I-35 CAPITAL EXPRESS CENTRAL PROJECT FROM US 290 EAST TO US 290 WEST/SH 71 IN TRAVIS COUNTY TEXAS

The I-35 Capital Express Central project is approximately eight (8) miles in length and would include the removal of the existing I-35 decks, lowering the roadway, and adding two non-tolled high-occupancy vehicle managed lanes in each direction along I-35 from US 290 East to US 290 West/State Highway 71.

The project will also reconstruct east-west cross-street bridges, add pedestrian and bicycle paths, improve transit accommodations and make additional safety and mobility improvements within the project limits.

Project Location Map of US 290 Improvement Project for FM 1155 in Washington and Waller Counties

EAST BRAKER LANE EXTENSION FROM DAWES PLACE TO SAMSUNG BOULEVARD IN TRAVIS COUNTY

The City of Austin, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are proposing to extend East Braker Lane from Dawes Place to Samsung Boulevard in Travis County, Texas. The project would extend East Braker Lane to Samsung Boulevard, a divided four-lane north-south road that connects Sprinkle Cutoff to the south with Parmer Lane to the north.

The East Braker Lane extension would be constructed as a four-lane curb and gutter roadway with bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and storm water infrastructure, with a total typical width of 110 feet. Taebaek Drive will be extended to intersect with the East Braker Lane extension - adding connectivity for bicycle, pedestrian, and vehicles to the Pioneer Crossing East Neighborhood.

Approximately 16.26 acres of additional right of way, and 2.79 acres of permanent easement would be required.

TXDOT US 281 - LAMPASAS TO EVANT IN LAMPASAS AND CORYELL COUNTIES

Due to increasing congestion along US 281 within Lampasas and Coryell counties, TxDOT's Brownwood District is proposing to expand US 281 by adding two travel lanes in either a northbound or southbound direction and separating the additional lanes from the existing travel lanes with a grassy median. This project is located between the city of Lampasas and the city of Evant. 

The proposed improvements would:

  • Widen US 281 between US 183 (Lampasas) and US 84 (Evant) in Lampasas and Coryell Counties with two additional travel lanes in either a northbound or southbound direction for a total of four lanes 

  • Improve safety by separating traffic with a grassy median 

  • Add crossovers along US 281 within the project to facilitate access to both sides of the highway. Exact crossover locations have not yet been determined

The project spans approximately 28 miles and an approximately 250 acres will be required for right of way; some displacements are anticipated but have not yet been identified.
